A Little About Kihei

Located on Maui’s southern shore is the medium-sized town of Kihei.   Situated near the ocean with the backdrop of the mighty Haleakala, the town is both a picturesque and relaxing place to live or visit.  In addition to guaranteeing a fun day at one of its beaches, Kihei is in close proximity to a number of other attractions.  With its close proximity to beautiful beaches, Kihei is an excellent location for surfers, snorkelers, and swimmers looking for an excellent beaching experience, families who want to enjoy a barbeque on the sand, or couples who want to relax on the beach and enjoy a beautiful Hawaiian sunset.  Located on South Kihei Road, Kama’ole Park, divided into three distinct beach areas, provides its residents and visitors grassy areas for picnics, showers, picnic tables, and white sand.  Kama’ole I is the largest of the three beaches and provides excellent swimming.   Despite being smaller than Kama’ole I, Kamaole also provides a great beaching experience.  Finally, Kama’ole III is a hotspot for the locals, and its waves make it a great spot for surfing and body boarding.  However, the beach does not provide any lifeguards, so it is best to take great caution when entering the water.  

Located between Kihei and Wailea is Keawakapu Beach, which provides its residents and visitors over approximately 1,200 yards of good swimming.   Its fine sand and general lack of large crowds make Keawakapu Beach another excellent location for a fine beaching experience or to relax with the family or a loved one.  Other beaches, like Charley Young Beach, Cove Park, and Memorial Park are additional beaches in the Kihei area.  Residents enjoy beautiful homes and ocean-front views, while prospective residents have a number of living options to choose from to fit any personal preference or budget in the Kihei area.  For those who prefer apartment-style living, Kihei’s Paradise Garden Parments, Kihei Regency Apartments, Grand Champions Villas, and Kapulanikai Apartments are only some of the complexes in the area that provide for this living arrangement.  The Maui Sunset Condos in an option to look into for prospective residents who prefer to live in condominiums.  Condominiums for visitors are also available in the area, provided by Paradise Vacations, Inc.  For those who wish to live in a home, living complexes of nearly every size are also available.  The Days Inn Maui Oceanfront, Hale Huanani Bed and Breakfast, the Pineapple Inn, and the Maui Homestay Bed and Breakfast are only some of the many available accommodations to visitors to the Kihei area.   

In addition to excellent residencies and beaches, Kihei also offers its residents and visitors excellent recreational activities and attractions.  Visitors can be entertained by the various dances of Polynesia at the Polynesian Village Luau while dining on traditional Hawaiian cuisine like Grilled Mahi Mahi in Coconut Sauce, Kalua Park, in addition to fresh fruits, delicious desserts, and an assortment of beverages.  Horseback riding in the area is offered by Makena Stables, a family operated business that began in 1983.  The rides take place on beautiful Ulupalakua Ranch, which offer stunning views of the surrounding area.  In addition, massages and spas are provided by Massage Maui, Spa Kea Lani, and Lani Massage and Spa to compliment a relaxing trip to the islands.  Other recreational activities in the area include surf lessons with the Maui Beach Boys, golfing at Makena Golf Courses, and hiking.  With its excellent living arrangements to fit nearly every preference,  its close proximity to beautiful beaches that guarantee great surfing, snorkeling, and swimming experiences, and its assortment of recreational activities and attractions make beautiful Kihei an excellent choice to reside or to visit on a trip to the islands.
