A Little About Makakilo

Makakilo, which means observing eyes in Hawaiian, is a medium-sized town located in the Ewa District of Honolulu on the island of Oahu.  It is located above the town of Kapolei and at the end of the Wai’anae mountain range.

Makakilo’s close proximity to the town of beautiful Kapolei gives residents and tourists the opportunity to indulge in an assortment of attractions.  Visitors have the opportunity to stay at the luxurious Ko’Olina Resort.  With beautiful and comfortable rooms, gourmet food, and steps from the beach, the Resort will surely provide each guest world-class comfort.  The opportunities to swim with dolphins, explore the ocean with turtles, and snorkel with hundreds of fish above stunning coral reefs are available to guests at the Ko’olina Resort and Marina’s Activity Center.  Deep-sea fishing, whale-watching, and romantic cruises are additional recreational activities provided by the Center.  Golfers can try their hand at the Ko’Olina Golf Club’s challenging 18-hole championship golf course, voted the Best Golf Course in Hawaii in 2010 by the Honolulu Magazine.  In addition, Makakilo is in close proximity to the popular Wet n’ Wild Water Park, which boasts a number of water rides for the whole family on a hot summer day.  The “Tornado,” the “Shaka,” the “Kapolei Kooler,” and the “Flyin’ Hawaiian” are only some of the rides available at the park that will guarantee guests an excellent and fun time.  Of course, a trip to Makakilo is not complete without a short drive to the Fia Fia Show at the JW Marriott Ihilani.  Indulge in a Hawaiian luau, watch the sunset, and be entertained by a Polynesian dance show.
