A Little About Waipahu

Once a sugar plantation town that was operated by the Oahu Sugar Company, the large town of Waipahu is named after a gushing spring and is located in the Ewa District on the island of Oahu.   Residents enjoy mostly clear skies, excellent residencies, and the abundance of services easily accessible to them in the greater Waipahu area and in the surrounding towns. Waipahu’s assortment of residential options, like apartments, condominiums, town houses, and small, medium, and large-sized complexes make the town one of the best locations to find the choice of living preference for prospective tenants.  The residential area surrounding the Waikele Shopping Center is the best option for the family looking for a modern home, with its oldest homes being built during the 1990s.  Townhouses, homes of all sizes, and condominiums are some of the options available in the Waikele residential district.

The Waipahu Post Office, numerous restaurants and fast-food stops, and other services are easily accessible to Waipahu residents.  Furthermore, Waipahu also entertains its residents and gusts with recreational facilities.  For Golfers, the Waikele Golf Club, the Makalena Golf Course, and the Royal Kunia Country Club are only some of the courses from which to choose from.   A great day at golf is guaranteed with any option.  Numerous parks in the Waipahu area, like the Waikele Community Park and the Waipahu Cultural Garden Park, are ideal places to relax or for kids to play in.   The Waipahu District Park Swimming Pool and the Waikele Swimming Pool are great places to cool off on those hot summer days.  Because the town borders Pearl City, Waipahu is in close proximity to additional shopping and attractions.  A movie theatre, a Sam’s Club, and a 24-Hour Fitness are some of the services that can be accessed just a short drive away from Waipahu at the Pearl Highlands Shopping Center.

Waipahu also boasts a number of attractions for its residents and visitors.  Hawaii’s Plantation Village is an outdoor museum that pays homage to the state’s plantation workers.  With its old plantation homes and other constructions, the Plantation Village helps educate the public about the lifestyles of the men who once toiled the fields.   The Plantation Village is open five days a week with guided tours.  Located just a short drive away in the nearby town of Pearl City is the USS Arizona Memorial, one of Hawaii’s most famous monuments.  Visitors to Pearl Harbor take a boat ride out to the memorial, built over the sunken USS Arizona, and pay their respects to the men that died there.   Located two miles southeast of Waipahu is the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, Hawaii’s premier flea market that must be visited on a trip to the islands.  Hundreds of vendors lay their Hawaiian treasures, goods, and local snacks out for purchase three days a week for unbelievable bargains and souvenirs.  With its convenient location, surplus of residential options, excellent shopping and eateries, Waipahu is another excellent option in which to reside.
